Partners in Crime

"I own two dogs, and they both have been trained to respond immediately to my voice. For example, when we're outside, all I have to do is issue the following standard dog command: 'Here Earnest! Here Zippy! C'mon, Here! I said come HERE! You dogs COME HERE RIGHT NOW! ARE YOU DOGS LISTENING TO ME? HEY!!!' and instantly both dogs, in unison, like a precision drill team, will continue trotting in random directions, sniffing the ground." -Dave Berry

"I like dogs. You always know what a dog is thinking. It has four moods. Happy, sad, cross and concentrating. Also, dogs are faithful and they do not tell lies because they cannot talk." -Mark Haddon from The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

T he truth I do not
     stretch or shove
When I state the dog
    is full of love.
I've also proved, by
     actual test,
A wet dog is the
     lovingest.

BREED HISTORY

The Boxer name refers to the dog's unusual habit of raising its forelegs and punching like a person. Although English in name, the dog's German ancestry began with a cross between Bulldogs and Mastiff-type canines that hunted boar and deer.

Boxers are intelligent and possess strong, agile physiques. The German people held these dogs in such high esteem that they worked as the earliest police assistants. Despite their hunting and police background, however, Boxers today exhibit playful, docile personalities that adapt well to families with children.
