Welcome to my website. As you've no doubt guessed, my name is Laurie, and I live in
the Washington, D.C. area with my four rather
rambunctious though fiercely loyal pooches.
Despite a B.A. in studio art and psychology, I've made my living in
IT ever since I can remember. Currently I develop web applications for a non-profit located on
the edge of Georgetown, and one of my favorite things to do is
take lunchtime walks through nearby Rose Park. Rose Park at midday usually brims with
frolicking dogs and their owners, and it's quite the place to be.
I hail from New York state where my father was an engineer for IBM in Owego.
My family moved to the D.C. area when he was transferred here in the late 60s while working on
the Apollo moon missions.
My younger brother and only sibling carries on
the engineering tradition as head of the thermal vac testing unit at NASA
Goddard. He appeared briefly in the last episode of PBS's series
Origins,
which featured the WMAP
program. More recently he was interviewed for
the Irish TV program Scope. Click

for the video. As you can tell, I'm pretty proud of him. :)
